unable to import media

Hi

I have numerous short mp4 clips. I am able to import about 160 of them. After that I get an error or the program crashes. "An error occured during the current opperation. An exception occured" or i get the following error "Warning: an error occured while opening one or more files. The file could not be opened. Make sure the file exists and that you have access to the file/folder.

I am able to view this file and import it into a new project. I'm using vegas 9b build 66

thanks

Vegas is very crashy when it's using Quicktime to decode MP4 files. Don't use as many mp4 files, or edit a few and render them using Cineform or DV AVI and then re-import them to a new project with the rest of the MP4s. In other words, do your editing in batches to avoid crashes.

In an older post, someone mentioned that Vegas crashes if you import more than 80 mp4 files into a project.

I wonder if loading Quicktime 7 player or pro will help stabilize the playback?

.mov files have been working OK for me so far.. My ratio of .avi to .mov are about 2:1 but I edit in 10 - 15 minute increments (chapters) then render the "chapters" and stitch them together in DVDA. I try to keep my projects relatively short because it reduces render times and my 2.8gHz P4HT (hoping to upgrade to an i7 in a few months) video/audio only worksataion (no internet, no games) handles the the projects better.

I currently use Quicktime 6 full version. Maybe VMS works better with the pro version of Quicktime for longer projects w/ lots of .mov clips?

Maybe someone here who works more with .mov files can verify this?
