Unable to open projects past 50-80%

Hello all,

I have been using Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 for the past 5 months or so. It's great! Recently i've been having an issue where projects no longer open past a certain percentage. Even the backups fail. Currently I am watching movie studio try to open my latest project, it's sitting at 70% and has been so for the last 45 minutes.

This doesnt happen to all of my projects, I usually start a new project every day for my YT channel. Some will open, some won't. The most recent that I am having issues with started acting up during editing. I tried to add a new 'titles and text' to the project, and every time I did... no matter what text I put into it, it seemed to 'inherit' clips of other text from other parts of the project and never worked. I closed, hoping to re-open and all would be right, and now here we are again.

There are no quicktime movies used in my projects, from researching this issue that seems to cause it for some people. These are all videos recorded with shadowplay in .mp4 format.

Any help or ideas on what I can do? I love this software, it's amazing... I will try any suggestions if it means I don't need to abandon it and re-learn something new.

Have you tried resetting the software? That's a good place to start when the behavior of the program suddenly changes.

To reset the software, follow these steps with the program closed.

1) Press and hold Ctrl and Shift together on your keyboard
2) With these keys held, launch the program
3) Keep Ctrl and Shift held until you are asked if you want to restore default settings
4) Check the box asking if you want to delete cached application data and click Yes

The software will start up after this. Try opening your projects to see if that fixes it.

Are you using Nvidia card? Then rollback to driver v341.44
Later updates caused all my projects containing titles to behave the same.
You can also switch video acceleration off

PS: If this is your case, Resetting switched GPU acceleration off and that's why your projects are opening now.

Had the same issue and this is the first fix i've found without having to roll back my graphic drivers so thanks!

I sthe GPU acceleration on after the reset?
In my case, it was off and after switching it on, projects were not loading again.
