Unable To Render to .ac3 With Vegas 7.0e

A few days ago I downloaded and installed Vegas 7.0e. I had been using Vegas 7.0d and previous versions to render my audio in Vegas projects to .ac3 (Dolby Digital) -- both 5.1 and 2-channel with no problems. Now when I set up a render to .ac3 and click on Save I get the message that I need to purchase Sony's .ac3 encoder in order to render to Dolby Digital (.ac3). What has happened? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but that did not help. Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Tom

The only thing that comes to mind is to try a reinstall of DVD Architect.

Here is an update. After finding that I could not encode .ac3 filesin Vegas 7.0e, I discovered that every single piece of Sony Software that I have installed on this computer (Acid Pro 6, Vegas 7, DVD Architect 4 Sound Forge 8, Noise Reduction 2.0, and CD Architect) would not open and run until they were removed in Control Panel and totally reinstalled. Vegas 7 continued not to encode .ac3 files until the last piece of Sony software was reinstalled (which happened to be CD Architect). Vegas 7.0e would then render .ac3 files perfectly normally. ALL of this came about only after the download and installation of Vegas 7.0e. I use this software every day and hence I can be quite precise as to what caused the problem. Further evidence that Vegas 7.0e triggered the problem is that none of the software on the computer (and I have lots of software on this computer) had any problems opening and running correctly. Only the Sony software.

Hi,
Sorry .. but I have V 7e and DVDA 4b and saw no such issues on two systems I run. Today I rendered a 1hr project to MPG2/AC3 and authored it in DVDA with no issues.

Tom,

I have used Vegas and virtually every other Sony product for years. I have never encountered an update problem before, but what I reported is accurate. I am glad that you did not have any problems. Perhaps the stars were out of alignment when I installed the update, but the problem did occur and was rectified only bey reinstalling all of my Sony software. All is working fine now.
