Unable to Render to MP4

jkerry wrote on 2/3/2012, 5:49 PM
Have tried a number of times to render an hour long video to a
Mani Concept MP4.
Each time it stops with a window that opens up and states:
"An error occured while creating the media file Untitled.mp4.
The reason for the error could not be determined."

1. Was tyrying to render it for YouTube.
2. I had a title on for the render.
3. Using VP11 (Build 521 64-bit.
4. 8 gigs Ram
5. Quad Core AMD Phenom II X4 850 Processors
6. AMD High Definition Audio

Any idea how I can get this done in an MP4 format or a good format for YouTube other than Windows Media.

Thanks,
Jeff
6. Windows 7 Ultimate

In the custom settings for the Main Concept encoder, set it to render using CPU only.

A quick search produced these threads with the same message:

Per this thread, try disabling GPU rendering.

No! Do what John said...

In my particular case, I have found that I can use GPU encoding in the Main Concept MP4 encoder if I'm encoding 1280x720 or lower resolution, it will produce that exact error every time I try to encode 1920x1080 and then I have to revert to "CPU Only" encoding.

At times I've seen errors like this when trying to render to an existing file name. The errors are sporatic - next time it happens I'll try to remember the exact sequence. I think it happens when I've canceled my previous render for whatever reason. It's almost like Vegas has created some temporary file that does not get cleaned up during the cancel.

In any case, the workaround is to render to a different filename i.e. in your case, try rendering to untitled2.mp4

May-or-may-not be the problem here, but it might be worth a shot.
