Unable to return to Main Menu in preview mode - please help

I've just completed my first project in DVDA. It has a video and a slide show on it, both rendered from VV4 as MPEG2. The main page has 2 options/thumbnails - one to navigate to Scene Selection the other to start playing the Slide Show. So far so good. If I select the slide show, the show plays, no problems but if I press stop on the remote and then press the Menu button I am unable to return either to the previous page or the main menu. If I hit the play button THEN I am returned to the Main Menu again. It will not resume play, rather it jumps back to the main menu.

Also, if I select the Scene Selection thumb nail it will take me to another page where I can click on any one of several thumb nails and they will start to play with not problems but again If I try to use either the return button or the Menu button on the remote the project just stops and I am looking at a blank screen and if I hit PLAY then I am returned to the main menu.

I am most confused, please help.

Steve

Hitting the stop button means to stop playing the DVD. If the DVD has been stopped, pressing the menu button won't have any effect. This seems to be fairly consistant behavior with real DVD players (at least the few that I've used) as well as things like WinDVD.

I can't find a "return" button on the control pad, but I've used the Menu button and the Back button while playing a scene selection is everything behaved correctly. From a playing clip, "back" took me back to the scene selection and then "back" took me to the main menu.

What version of DVDA do you have? If you aren't running 1.0b then you should download it and see if that helps.

swattum. I thank you for taking the time to reply. After reading your answer I tried DVDA 1b and it works just like yours. I was under the impression that when a clip was selected and while playing it you hit the STOP button and then the PLAY again, it would resume playing where it had stopped.
Instead, STOP gives me a blank screen (with the SoFo Logo) and then the only way to get action again is to hit the PLAY button which returns me to the Main selection rather than the scene selection.

Does everyone elses' work the same way?

When you hit stop, it STOPS. When you hit play, it plays from the very beginning - just like you just inserted it into a DVD player. This is the way it should work. It's also the way my DVD player works.

What happens after you hit stop depends on the player. My Sony player will give me a screen that says "Hit play to resume from current position" - hitting stop a second time will cause me to start the DVD over the next time I hit play.

I've got another player though that when I hit stop, it stops and won't resume from the point stopped, it starts over from the beginning.

I think a players ability to resume play also depends on what's going on. My Sony will never resume play to a menu, only to an actual playing movie.
