Unable to save Multicamera project in Vegas14

Philbec wrote on 5/3/2019, 5:14 AM

Hi,

I work on a project with multicamera option (2 video tracks and one audio track). After saving my project, I reload it in Vegas14. And then, I only get one video track even with multicamera option enabled. Same problem when I make a group with 2 video tracks. After reloading project, one track is lost. Did I miss something ?

Thank you for your help

There seems nothing wrong. This is exactly what the multicam-mode is made for: To get many video tracks into one single multicam track.

In fact, I have trouble when I want to import Vegas project into an another one.

I first make a project with 3 grouped tracks. When I reload it, it is OK (1st picture) and tracks are still grouped.

But when I import it in another project, I only get 2 ungrouped tracks (1 video + 1 audio) (2nd picture)

I hope to be clear in my explanation

But this isn't related to multicam editing as this thread title says, is it?

What you do there is called "nesting" and this again is how nesting is supposed to work: making a Vegas Pro project file being treated as if it would be a simple media clip.

As @Marco. points out this is exactly how 'nesting' works. However if you want to modify the nested project, there is a built in method.

Close down Vega Pro. Start Vegas Pro (we will call this the 'Master' project. Add your previous project to the Project Media bin as if it were a clip (this is nesting). Bring this project to the timeline. It then looks like your sample above. Right click on the timeline clip/event and select 'Edit in Vegas' this will be followed by the name of your nested project file. When you select this, another instance of Vegas Pro will load with your previous project with all the tracks, etc. Make any changes to the previous project in this 2nd instance and then 'save' the changes. Now go back to the Master project, Vegas will reload the nested project to reflect the changes you made.

@Marco. : I have the same problem with muticamera tracks

@Eagle Six : I thought it was possible to work directly in the master project

"I have the same problem with muticamera tracks"

Even if it occurs like, these are not the same problems. Actually these are no problems but the intended way these tools work.

In multicam mode, several tracks are stacked into one track where then the single camera clips are accessable via the Vegas Take functions (number keys or T-key).

When doing nesting, the whole Vegas Pro project, no matter how many video and audio tracks are used, will be treated as a new (stereo) video clip which – of course – contains one video track and one (stereo) audio track.

In both cases, which are completely different processes, Vegas Pro works exactly as it should.

@Philbec As far as the nesting, you can edit the nested project like you would edit, change, modify, add Fx's, etc. like you can do with any other clip/event. What you can not do is make changes to the edit, change, modify, or Fx's that you applied in the original project that has been nested. To do that you must use the round-robin feature 'Edit in Vegas'. None of this is to be confused with Multicam. I was just adding this as additional information about nesting, not your original concern about Multicam.

The really good news is, as many have said, repeatedly, the Multicam and Nesting are working for you normally as they should.

I misunderstood the way Vegas is working. I thought that when I import a project containing grouped tracks or multicam tracks , I could work directly in master project. In fact, I have to use "Edit in Vegas" to make modification in imported project.
