Uncertain about template

Just shot some vacation video with new camcorder, Sony HDR-CX110. Since I know nothing about HD or Blu-Ray, I set it to capture in SD. After adding video to Movie Studio 10, I noticed black bars on top and bottom in the preview screen. I then went to properties and chose "match media settings" and that took care of it. The only thing I saw that changed was the pixel aspect ratio, from .9091 to 1.2121. After rendering and sending the video to Architect, it has the bars again. Am I missing something or is that the way the finished product will be. Thanks.

You'll need to set up the project properties in DVDAS to be 16:9 widescreen.

Also, make sure that when you rendered the MPEG2 video file in Vegas that you used the "DVD Architect widescreen" template.

Thanks Chienworks. The project properties in DVDAS is set to16:9. I did not see a template that says DVD Architect widescreen when using Studio. When I select Make Movie,Burn to DVD, a screen comes up showing the video and audio paths and at the bottom it has an option of using widescreen format, I have checked that one. Is that what you are talking about? Thanks again for the help.

Hmmmm. I've only ever clicked "make movie" once, and decided to never ever click it again. It's just too limited. I always click Render and then pick options from there. After you choose MPEG2 as the output type one of the templates listed under it should say something like DVD Architect widescreen.

If you play your MPEG file in Windows Media Player do you see the black bars in it there?

I rendered in mpeg, selected DVDA Widescreen video stream, and all went well except I have no audio. Sorry for asking so many questions.

Ahhhh, you have to do two separate renderings. 1) Video in MPEG2 and 2) Audio in AC3. Maybe the Make Movie function does both for you automatically.

Yes it does both. Thanks so much for your help Chienworks.
