First of all, there is no such thing as a 24x DVD burner. (20x burners are just coming to market.)

Regarding your problem, the firmware on your DVD burner has information on a variety of discs and at what speed to burn them. It's possible that your Memorex discs are not contained in the firmware table and the player is defaulting to 2x. Another possibility is that some DVD burners test each individaul disc to find the optimum burning speed and sets the speed accordingly. Perhaps your burner has tested the disc and determined that 2x is the best speed at which to burn. Memorex discs are not generally known for their high quality. It's quite likely that Memorex didn't even make the discs and simply put their name on them. There are relatively easy ways to determine the media code and find out exactly who made your discs.

What brand of DVD's do ou suggest? And thank you for your reply.
I had a nother thing pop up. A segement of a DVD I rendered in VP8 shows up as blank video when it was input into DVArch8. Segments on both sides rendered and showed up. Audio was there, but no Video. Any thoughts on this.

And thank you very much for your reply.

Burt:

Get Taiyo Yuden DVD-R blanks from places such as supermediastore.com or meritline.com. About $0.30 each in quantities of 50-100. Extremely high quality.

Don't get the "economy" disks.

Do a search on this board for more info on Taiyo Yuden.
