Understanding Audio Takes--Non-Realtime (Vegas 6)

According to the users manual, page 127, there's a way to label events with Take names by using Preference and the General Tab. I certainly don't see it. Maybe in older Vegas?

It doesn't seem possible to display all the Takes for a veg file. Is there? The only way I can get a handle on them is to go to each event and use the menu to use Choose Active. Further, it seems that to identify the plugins used for a Take that I need to put in the OK (Save As) label. Perhaps I supposed to save a preset that identifies the plug-in chain I used, then put some of that info in the OK label??

Is there a folder where all the Takes are kept? It appears through some manner that I don't see all the Takes I've created, yet I can see them listed in the OK dialog selection list.

Media Pool. All Takes are separate files. "Track 1 Recording 1,2,3...7" etc

Good. I found them and see that the "unavailable" Take files on the OK dialog are not there, which makes some sense. It's likely I deleted them, but the only show in the "recent" portion of the OK dialog.

So I have to modify the Take files to reflect some meaning about they event they apply, and to what I did (plug-ins used) to produce the Take?

You need to keep track manually.

To facilitate this I have the DX plugin 'DXPAD' (Freeware) from www.analogx.com on each track plugin chain by default,This is like a notepad where you can enter anything, and even semi-automatically timestamp it !

Any improvement on this in 8.0?

I guess eventually I'll develop a few chains of effects that I can apply to a few troublesome events, and name them in someway. When I apply one to an event, I can tied the name to my named plug-in for the chained effect.

Ooops, The Analogx one is a plugin for each track and is simple text-only.

The one with Timestamping is a freebie from VASST 'Notepad' and is a Vegas Extension http://tinyurl.com/6f4cgz

I don't see Analogx in the choices for NRT plug-ins.
