Please, some1 , throw me a bone.
I can capture A-ok, but when i try to "print to tape" - fudge-central

I have Dell Dim XPS B- 800mghz, 384 ram - pleny of disk space left (6gigs(
I've tried just putting like 1/2 sec of capture video to tape, no effects,,(from my Sony DCR-TRV310
video camera) (dx 8.1 installed, MS DV upgrade there, all drivers current..windows media player ver 6.4.07.1121 ((aware this isn't current, but current version seems to invade privacy??)).. ?? anything missing?

Everytime i try to "print to DVtape"
i get "unexepected error has occured" - error "~8004020D - (message missing)"
or... "no compatible codec was found"

I know i'm not be very detailed right now... hoping this is a common problem with a quck fix though... any ideas?...
PS - i have demo version (will not pay until i know it will work with my system)
maybe demo)

any help would really be HELPFUL..
thank you

Doh! - i searched, didn't see anything.. I just expected it to be some hardware issue
knowing my luck - would think the "print to tape button" would be just be blocked out in demo?.. oh well,, time 2 fork up the $ & get real copy

Thank you for the help

You can render the project and play it with Vidcap 3.0. You would then see what your system will do. Should be fine. Areas that don't render are just a file transfer. More HD space used vs. print-to-tape. This is how it was done prior to Ver. 3.0 And how you can still make digital masters as needed.

For the record, my new name is TADPOLE (no longer HEYsues)

HPV - yes! vidcap worked! - the uber fast support of this forum helped in my decision to purchase the software 2nite (now printing from timeline; works like a charm!)

I might have had a few beers tonight already so sorry if i get all sentimental (on top of the beers i just found myself the darn-tooting best vid editing software my in-experienced behind has come across!!, so ME happy)

Thank you both (GG, HPV) for your help.. from past experience with forums, i didn't even expect a response - thank u for refreshing my faith

I no longer try to print from the timeline due to that "message not found" error that pops up just when I should be manually starting my destination device. I've posted about this problem, but no response to it on this board. My copy is a fully registered copy (albeit downloaded, not boxed . . . don't think that should matter).

Everything was working at one time. This error popped up after a re-install.

I won't try another re-install for a while, since I am currently having a problem getting my MPEG2 registered (too many registrations), and don't want to end up laming my entire VV30 installation.

Any further suggestions on the print-to-tape from timeline problem would be appreicated.
