Unexpected keyboard shortcut

bStro wrote on 8/30/2006, 8:50 AM
Like many notebooks / keyboards these days, mine has got a set of audio control buttons -- mute, lower volume, raise volume -- to be used with the system sound. Well, I just discovered that these "work" in Vegas, too. Specifically, they affect the selected track's (both audio and video) Mute toggle and slider control.

Wonky. But a little dangerous.

it must be vegas 5/6 only. MY dad has Vegas 4 & using those controls with vegas open don't affect Vegas, just the master volume controls for the laptop.

I would like to disable it on mine, it's annoying that I can't adjust the overall volume unless I de-select the vegas window.

Scratch that - I just did disable it Options => Pref. => Keyboard tab => Select Track View category, and then just delete all the volume options, or change them to something else.

It's disabled here also, interesting idea but annoying in the end.

you'd think some brilliant software person would figure out how to reprogram these useless media buttons so Vegas would use them as we wished...ala Contour Shuttle

You can already reprogram them in the same preferences tab mentioned by FrigidNDEditing above. Just put your cursor in the "Press new shortcut keys" box, tap the key you want to program, choose a command from the right, and click Assign.
