Unknow Error

I'm trying to render a DC AVI file that I rendered from my DV Camera into an MPEG2 file with a constant bitrate of 4,200,000. Each time I get about 4 minutes into the render I get and error stating... "An error occured while creating the media file test.mpg. The reason for the error could not be determined."

This is a 3Gb DV AVI file. I have 20Gb hard disk free and it's a 7200 rpm disk and I'm running a 1Ghz Athlon with 768Mb RAM. I created the 3 Gb DV AVI no poblem.

MyDVD created a DVD from this 3Gb DV AVI file no problem. I'm trying to reduce the bit rate and render it in VV3 before going to MyDVD because MvDVD won't let me alter the bit rate.

Any ideas what could be causing this error??? This is the first time I've tried to render an MPG2 file from VV3.

Thanks,

MadMikey

Do you have Vegas 3.0a? That update contains a number of MPEG fixes-

Yes, I have 3.0a... I successfully ran the default template for DV NTSC using the Main Concept MPG2 codec. But trying to reduce the bitrate I get that error.

Also, I'm running XP Pro.

This may not help in trying to resolve your problem but I also get the same error when trying to render a Mpeg-1 file at a Bitrate which does not correspond to the preset bitrates in the templates. Any attempt to alter them will produce "An unknown error has occurred......" which is really helpful. If I preview the file that has been rendered then as it gets towards the end of the video the sound disappears and the video starts to speed up. If I render a file using the preset bitrates then I get no error. I am using VV 3.0a and Windows2000

Its seems a few people have been getting this error - is this a bug in VV? I would like to use a different bitrate to get more than approx 65 minutes of mpeg-1 onto a 74 minute CDR but at the moment the only bitrates I can use are those that come with the software

I got the same error when encoding MPEG-2:SVCD with MAX CBR available
with Vegas Video 3.0a. But, I could bypass it when using BitRate of
2,000,000.

The quality obviously was better in the clips encoded with MAX CBR.

I have Win200 Pro, 80 GB 7200 EIDE/ATA, P3 @ 500 Mhz machine.

Can you please help me on this?

Is this going to be fixed? I have Vegas Video 3.0c and it still happens. I simply cannot use this product at all if its not fixed.
