unlocking vegas trial w/ purchased upgrade

I have Vegas 7 and just purchased the 8 Pro upgrade (boxed) from B&H Photo. My question is:

Can I install the 8.0c trial (leaving 7 installed)... then when the upgrade gets delivered, input that serial number in the trial and unlock it?

I dont want to have to uninstall the trial when the upgrade gets here just to reinstall it from the disc.

Will the 8 pro trail reject my upgrade serial number even if I have 7 still installed?

And installing the trial/demo is a good idea. It's the latest release of the software. What you get in the box from B&H may be the initial release with all it's unfixed bugs.

And believe it or not....

Sony outright TOLD a customer on the help line NOT to use the B&H disk because it was not up to date with the bug patches. Instead download a copy from the Sony site and use the license number from the B&H deal.

Sorry... I don't remember where that thread was, but apparently it worked out fine.

Yes, you only need a valid serial number. In fact, if you could somehow just pay B&H to email you a valid serial number, you would be good to go. Download the latest version of version 8c (and/or 8.1 if you have a 64-bit OS) from SCS, install it and then enter the S/N provided by B&H...and you're done. Tell B&H to keep their disk and save you some shipping!

Do they send along an actual user's manual with the disk, by chance? That might be nice to have while you're learning it--although Vegas has a great user help section, complete with tutorials.

In your trial version of Vegas Pro, under the Help menu, you'll see "Enter your serial number."

If your trial expires, and you are prompted to "Buy now or close", select "Buy now" and "Purchase via phone". This will prompt you for your serial number.
