UNLOCKING VIDEO AND AUDIO TRACKS

I'm embarassed to ask simple questions but here goes. How do I unlock video and audio tracks so that, for example, I can remove part of the video and keep the audio track?

right-click on it in the timeline, go to 'group' and select 'remove from group'

Click on the event to select it. Press "U" to "U"ngroup it.
