Unusable due to crashes with .MOVs

As it says, utterly unusable. Can't get more than a few clicks in without a terminal crash. The format is .MOV and I know Vegas has always had issues with it. Any fixes?

I've tried converting it with Handbrake to mp4 and it does work but it's a real pain to do and the file sizes are pretty huge. Would love some kind of codec workaround.

Edit: have deleted my other thread because the title wouldn't edit to reflect the problem (didn't realise it was MOV at first).

MOV is a container - that term alone tells us nothing about your situation. We need the codec, source of file, etc. to get to solution. DETAILS, details, details..

Is this of help? I know nothing about codecs, tbh.

Sorry to ask you to jump through hoops; if you could download MediaInfo from Sourceforge and give us the complete properties of the MOV source file.. There is nothing in your system or s/w versions to suggest a problem.

Also, turn off all GPU assist in Vegas and see if that makes a difference.

No problem, I just want to get to the bottom of it!

This what you want? http://i.imgur.com/D0b66HU.jpg I've exported a text file as well if there's any other stuff that's helpful.

I'll give it a go with GPU off and report back.

For what it's worth, I've just tested the footage on my older machine running Vegas Platinum 9.0 on Vista and it's working absolutely fine. I reckon this might be a GPU thing then.

Edit: nope, same problems.

If turning off GPU doesn't fix it, we'll need the full properties from MediaInfo.

If you will Google "MediaInfo" and "Sourceforge," I don't know how you could possibly go wrong.

I posted the stats a few posts up in direct reply to you - it's in screenshot form on imgur (unless you want mediainfo's text file, as I also talked about in the post).

Going to bump this one - mediainfo stats were attached in the post but I'll link again: http://i.imgur.com/D0b66HU.jpg

I went and batch converted my footage with Handbrake but I would still love a fix.
