unwanted fade in

Hi
What setting am I missing? I have a an event in a track of its own, I'm zoomed right in and I can see the thing fading in three frames before it appears in the timeline. I want it to cut in without this fade.
This has even happened even when I've stuck a black MediaGenerator event on top to mask it. What I'm actually trying to do is use Brightness/Contrast and LightRays effects to have the event burst onto the screen. But I always end up with a grey area at the beginning no matter what interpolation I choose and where I put the keyframes. I want the event to cut in as pure white.
Has anybody else had this kind of problem?
Thanks
Mark

Erm, panic over. Looks like it was motion blur. I didn't know it would put frames before the actual event started in the timeline. Any way to stop this?

Vegas 3 or 4? In 4, you can turn off motion blur for a given track, or keyframe it so the blur width is smaller there.

Thanks. Keyframing worked fine.
