Update issue - Beware!

I just spent I don't know how long working on a DVDA4.5 DVD and saved frequently so I wouldn't lose my work, well guess what.... I lost it!

Apparently when you hit the save button in windows Vista it doesn't save! I don't know if this is a new bug brought on with the latest patch, but all I know is that I was saving frequently (100% sure) and I just went to call up my project again and it isn't there! I did a full search and there is no sign of the file I worked on.

Nothing like wasting your time! (venting)

Weird. You're referring to the 4.5b update, correct?

When you click the Save button in a new project (one that hasn't been "saved" yet), does DVDA give you the Save As dialog? Does the File > Save menu item work for you?

Can anyone else confirm this? I only have one Vista machine in the house, and it doesn't have DVDA on it.

I have observed that, at least with Vegas 8, if you use "Save As", it puts the project file into my Documents folder instead of into the folder I designated when I saved it the first time. I know that this is a little bit different than your problem, but somehow I feel that it is related. When I press "Save" the file is saved where I want it; when I pres "Save as", it puts it in my Documents folder--WEIRD!! A bug, perhaps? I do not know if it does this on the newest updated for Vegas & DVD Architect, for I have yet to install them.

I don't think it's a bug...When you do a "Save As", it's defaults to the My Documents folder because that's where all Windows compliant programs are suppossed to save "documents" by default. If you do a "Save As", and change the path; it'll save to the folder you select. Isn't that the way it's suppossed to work?

The update version I am referring to is 4.5b.

My specific issue was a project first created in DVDVA4.0, saved in the summer of 07 on windows xp home sp2.

This is the DVDA file I opened with the new version 4.5b on windows vista premium. Maybe this is the mix you need to have for this issue to occur.
