Update on "Forum Change"

Apologies for the double-post. The original seems to have deteriorated a tad from the subject. So this is submitted for those interested parties.

I received the following from our Webmaster:

"I had to remove it per a Sony policy regarding the handling on users personal information. We're working on creating a new 'my account' area of the website, and once that's up, there's a possibility we'll give users the option to display their personal profile on a forum page. If all goes well, the user profile page will provide even more info than it used to."

Policies like this are usually setup by the legal counselors to mitigate risk. One time, I had a president that didn't want competitor's to have access to our users.

However, there can always be a brief legal disclaimer along with a check mark that says, "allow my user profile information to be publicably viewable."

Regarding the access to users, let a competitor try to pull away a Vegas user--I personally send competitive promotions (i.e. Pinnacle) directly to Sony for their business intelligence and to help them become even more competitive (although their marketing depatment appears to be a black hole without a response).

I hope they follow through quickly and set this up--our ability to collaborate and network off line helps increase the strength and value of this community.
