can anyone out there tell me if they know a fix for this situation?
I installed the 3.0c update yesterday to my vv 3.0 and now if I render something and try to play it back the video boggs down in media player even tho the sound keeps running. I have tried everything, including completely uninstalling all of my sonic foundry software and reinstalling everything back to they way I had it but the damage seems to be done now. I can't get a single render to play like it did. has anyone out there ever heard of anything like this? any solutions?

Do you know if the rendered file is OK? Can you play it on another machine? Have you changed your render settings drastically? Do the files you made with 3.0 still play OK?

thanks for replying Tor, no, I don't think the rendered files are coming out ok. I can't view them in media player on my terminal but i can view them on other terminals. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the media player on my system though because my other files that I previously created with 3.0 are playing just fine. It is definitely something going wrong in the render process now that was not wrong before. Also, this file that is not working is part of a group of files that I am laying on to DVD and I just got an error saying something about exceeding the allowable multiplexing bitrate? does that tell you anything? I'm stumped by that. all I can figure is that it is not a good render but I've tried re-rendering it about a billion times now in every setting possible.

Allowable multiplex bitrates are among the things in life I know nothing about. Are these mpegs your are rendering? Could the 3.0c install have messed with the codecs? Defragging the hard drive(s) can do wonders for video playback, though.
If no one replies with a solution it could be because of the week-end. In any case, the SoFo people should be back on Monday. They may spot your question here, or you could send a mail to them. Good luck, sorry I can't be of any help.

This is speculation but could it be your download was corrupted? Maybe try
downloading again.
