upgrade from 12 to 13 - worth it?

Indyman wrote on 10/11/2015, 12:44 AM
I have Vegas 12 and am generally happy with it (hobbyist here). I don't really need the new features in 13, but it is worth upgrading from a stability/bug fix standpoint? Are there fixes from 12 in 13 that would make it worth the upgrade price, or are there just the (minor) new features. Thanks for your feedback -

been covered elsewhere on this forum - but the basic consensus seems to be download the trial and see if it's any better than what you've got.

i would say that it also depends a great deal on what you're using it with (format) and for (commercial, hobby, etc.,)

i'm more than happy with 13's stability...

Recent build 453 of Vegas Pro 13 is very stable to me.

And just knew 12th version can't read few video formats where they can be read without issue on 10th and 13th version.

and he found the solution by following this tips:

2 of the most significant fixes in V13 (over V12) are the GoPro playback issue, and the PXW-X70/XAVC-L issue. If you're using a GoPro or a Sony PXW X70 then you'll probably want to upgrade. See the release notes.

On the other hand, V13 has an important (for me) new bug with renaming files in the Explorer window, and some are finding that V13 renders slower than V12. I don't see any "general stability" improvements in V13, and personally I continue to use V12 most of the time, despite having both.

There are a number of other unsolved issues with both V12 and V13. My partial list is in this thread.

Thanks everyone. I don't need any of the new features and didn't see anything in the demo that bowled me over so sticking with 12. Just moved to Win 10 and doesn't seem to have any issues but I haven't put it thru the wringer either. Thought maybe there was something I was missing but for what I do it appears not.
Thanks again
