What I normally do is skip every other version, because the upgrade price for 1 or 2 versions back is the same.

Do you edit HD video, are you having trouble with it on 8?

As far as VMS10 goes, I'd recommend downloading the free trial and see if your video format works with it or not. A friend downloaded it a month or so ago and it immediately crashed when he tried to drag his video to the timeline. Every time. I don't remember which camera he has, but I'm just saying to try it out.

I didn't realize the features (like the 10 tracks) listed above, that's pretty cool really.
