upgrade to Pro 8 from Trial version

My son has the trial version of Vegas Pro 8 installed, and we just received the actual package today. Is it better to uninstall the trial and install Pro from the disk, or do I simply enter the serial number in the trial installation?

Chances are that the trial version is actually newer than what's on the disc. It certainly won't be older. Just use what you've already got installed.
