I am unaware of any issues. I am also running netframework 2 and Vegas 6 without probelms.

No, it should all be backward compatible with v6. I think I'm on the latest and greatest versions.

My understanding is:
You need .NET 1.1 SP1 for Vegas 6 - it looks for it upon installation.

.NET1.1 and .NET2.0 are two separate products and can both be installed at the same time.

The media manager requires v1.1 to run, but you'll have no problems having both versions installed.

"I'm going to upgrade to Vegas 6 from 5 next month."

Why then? If you could hold off a couple more months, then you will most likely get Vegas 7 for the same cost that you would spend next month. Ot at the very least, wait until Sony announces V7 and typically they offer a free upgrade for those that purchase the last version 30 days from the announcement.

That is TERRIBLE advice to give someone. I could see if Vegas 7 was announced and not shipping yet but you have no idea when Vegas 7 will be released. If someone hasn’t upgraded from 5 to 6 until now, it kind of tells you that either they didn’t have the money or more than likely, they were waiting for things to stabilize before upgrading. Which means if Vegas 7 came out tomorrow they would still wait 6 months before buying it.

If you feel you need Vegas 6 then buy it. There will always be something better in just a view months away (Blu-ray, HD DVD, Cell Processors, etc.). I just bought a new DVD burner. I could care less that Blu-Ray is a few months away. When you need something you buy it and if you wait for the next big thing you will be waiting all your life for nothing because there is always something better just a few short months away.

> Why then?

Because it exists! ;-) (very existential ain’t I)

If you like Vegas and use it then upgrade it. Vegas has been the best money I have ever spent. If I am not on Vegas doing something then I must be on vacation (or at NAB watching someone else use Vegas).
