Upgrade to Vista

My new workstation came with XP Pro, and a disk to upgrade to Vista. I don't know if it's 64 or not.

I requested XP because I was told it's more stable for editing. I have been reading some of the topics in this Forum and it appears that there are benefits to Vista 64.

I'm not a technocrat, just a 74-year old fart that always has to located close to a toilet facility.

I would appreciate your guidance. I assume the upgrade does not reformat the drive.

Again, Thanks

The upgrade won't format your drive, but it will "park" your windows into a backup location, and tryi and migrate your stuff over for you.
I've not had any bad experiences this way - out of the few machines I've upgraded for people.
It's pretty self-guiding on the process - just reserve a few hours since it can take a while

The upgrade failed. I haven't been able to start Vegas or DVDA since the upgrade. I'v folowed advise on the forum and still no luck.

I'm going to upgrade to 64 and try 8.1.

I'd have stuck with XP - not too late to go back ?

Little to be gained from Vista, apart from potential difficlies.
