Upgrade Trial -> download only version?

Is it possible to buy a download-only version of Movie Studio? Since I don't live in the US, shipping would cost me about $50 and that is rather expensive for a $100 software.

Our local computer stores don't have this available.

Since the trial works just fine (for now) all I need is the license to (legally) activate it.

i think there's a way to buy the software over the phone, which should just give you a license code to enter into the software you have. try looking in the help menu.

This has been a subject of much discussion and very little resolution. I would suggest emailing customer service and explaining that their "no download purchase" policy is costing them a sale. If they get enough complaints they may consider changing the policy. Then again they may not, but it doesn't hurt to try.

In the end, I did byte the bullet and bought it. The cheap dollar compared to the Euro helped a bit.

I had the chance to fill in a questionnaire and they replied, saying the reason that you could not download MS3 license is because of the license of the included MyDVD...

The next version would be available as a download-only version.

I'm (sorta) happy now. Except that my PC renders soooo slowwww.

I think a lot of folks would be happy to forgo the MyDVD license in order to be able to download MovieStudio 3, even if it was still the same price.

Perhaps Sony is paying attention and planning to bundle a better DVD authoring solution in place of MyDVD in the next version? We can hope...

Just curious...

How many people actually use MyDVD that comes with Screenblast?

Can you uninstall MyDVD without messing up the ScreenBlast installation?

Yes, they are separate programs in separate directories. I removed MyDVD ages ago through the Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.

Me for one! But then I'd be looking to pay the upgrade price :-)

I haven't even installed it, having read so many negative comments. I have no use for software that can't create a menu, which is one of the derogs I've seen listed.
