I'd say wait until the next cheap upgrade to Vegas time. Some people are like me and when the new one comes out they sell an old copy to help cover the cost. I normally do, but I'm on XP so I can't upgrade either. :D
Why are you guys stuck on XP? Windows 8 Pro upgrade is only $39.99. That's a pretty attractive upgrade offer.
To answer the original poster, while eBay is the only chance at getting a copy of Vegas Pro 10.0, be very, very careful of pirate software. It is almost impossible to buy a legitimate copy of Vegas Pro 10.0 on eBay but there are 1000's of pirated copies available. Just be careful of who you deal with.

There's no method of purchasing an older version of Vegas from Sony that I know of, but you might consider acquiring a license from someone who has upgraded.
Sony has a very generous license scheme that allows a licensed Vegas user to transfer their license to another user. A restriction that would be pertinent in this case is that a license can only used once to upgrade. So, for example, if a user has upgraded from 10 to 11 (or 12) then they can transfer their version 10 license to someone else, but the new licensee cannot use the license for future upgrades. Of course, an original owner might not want to give up their license because they might have a need to revisit older projects that might not function correctly in the latest version of Vegas.
So, while SCS has a policy of not allowing sales through this forum, they might allow you to ask if anyone has a copy of 10 they would be willing to transfer to you -- either for a fee or free if they were so inclined.

I agree, it IS a great price. But that price won't take me to 64-bit, I'd need the CD version. Again, only $70, and you can install it on new hardware down the line, but I don't have the $$ atm to replace the software that isn't compatible, so I'm waiting.
