Upgrading from trial version

kvbraj wrote on 2/11/2004, 6:46 PM
Hi,
I downloaded the trial version from the web site Screen Balst Movie studio 3.0a, I did some work with the trial version. My trial has expired. I bought the software from Amazon (To save $15). Now when I try to install the software, I get the message 'A newer version of movie studio already installed', and I cannot proceed.
I don't want to loose the work I did with the trial version. How can I go about activating the version I have installed with the new keys I got?

Thanks
-Raj

Make sure you know where you saved the projects and uninstall the trial version and install the licensed version. I did the same thing and when I launched the registered version, I just opened the saved projects and everything worked fine.

Good luck and you will not regret your purchase at all!!!!!!

You shouldn’t lose your work. The uninstaller utility will only remove those that were part of the trial application. I know where you are coming from. I downloaded the trial version, started working on my project, bought a copy (retail however), installed it over the trial version-voila, kept right on working on my project w/o a hitch. Excellent program too!

My experience was the same - just uninstalled the trial and then installed from the CD. One other thing - once you've installed from the CD, go to the Help menu and choose "Check For Update" to get the latest.

I'm finding it refreshing to focus on my projects rather than spend all my time fighting to get the video editing software to work like I was with Pinnacle Studio!

the cd doesn't install the latest version of the software, and it isn't available through "check for update" for some reason. to get the latest software version, go to this web site:

The Windows installer You have a newer version installed looks like a dead end but you don't really need to uninstall the trial.

If the trial hasn't expired, then go to Help--> Enter Your Serial Number and copy the SN from the CD. The application will need to restart and re-open in non-trial mode.

If the trial has expired, then you get the "Trial has expired" window. Click Buy Now, Purchase via phone, and put your SN where the activation code should be. This is a bit of a cheat but it should work.
