OK, its nearing time for me to upgrade my PC.
I use Vegas 8. Since Vegas relies on raw processing horsepower, here is what I'm looking at doing:
This MOBO: GA-EP35C-DS3R ~$142
Key benefits:
- I can use my existing RAM for now (DDR2 800mhz) and upgrade to 1066 DDR2 OR 1333 DDR3
- Uses both DDR2 or DDR3
- Proc FSB up to 1600 for future upgrading.
- 8 SATA II ports + IDE (will use for current DVD burners) and have room for System, Capture, Render, Author and 2 BluRay Drives and 2 more....... Hmmm, would be cool to find out if you could do say 2 RAID arrays... 1 for capture and 1 for render (2 drives capture & 2 render).............
This processor: Intel Q9300 ~$279
Key features:
- 45nm
- 1333 FSB
- 2.5 Ghz Stock Clock can OC to 3 Ghz safely
- Other Quads are 1066 FSB... FSB plays a huge part in processing.
RAM... I'll keep my existing for now and see how it runs, but would upgrade to something like this ~ 170 for 4 GB
