Are you sure you uninstalled it properly. Deleted the temp directory Vegas creates during install? And just to be on the safe side, rebooted before you reinstalled?
Any idea what you did to set off this failure, or did it just happen?

Hmm, not sure what to suggest really. GetRawInputDeviceInfo is part of WinXP and is in one of the core system dll's - USER32.DLL. If this function is not found in this dll then I can only assume the dll is corrupt. (But XP is supposed to be able to repair these sort of problems). Try installing/re-installing WinXP SP1.

As asked earlier, did you do anything new to your system etc that could have had an effect? Was Vegas running on your machine earlier or is this a fresh install? What versions of windows, what hardware etc...

Only thing I remember seeing re: something preventing Vegas from running was one version of the ATI drivers.

You might want to consider a registry cleaner program. You can find them in shareware. Uninstall Vegas 4, but before reinstalling, run the registry cleaner program to delete occurances of V4 still left in the registry. Then reboot and reinstall.

I had to do this when I bought V4. I had the demo installed on my PC so I uninstalled it and then checked the registry for any Sonic Foundry entries. There were quite a few, so I used the registry cleaner to get rid of them before I installed my official V4 copy.

I'm not saying this is your problem, but something you may want to check.

Yikes! You're running Win2000. Well, I use Win2k + SP3 at work and my user32.dll does not have a GetRawInputDeviceInfo function. As I mentioned earlier, that function is only supported on WinXP. A quick look for this function on MSDN confirmed this - so the message about GetRawIputDeviceInfo not being present is actually correct. In that case, have you mistakenly installed any plugins, drivers or other software which are for XP only?

Cheers,

Scott
