USB capture probs

Since I have had trouble capturing with firewire, I am trying USB. I am able to capture with USB, but the capture video image is darker than the original. Any ideas?

PS I forgot to mention, I have fujitsu laptop. I have just been reading about the difficulties others are having in capturing or printing video with a fujitsu.
