USB-MIDI Controll Surface For Vegas

Is Vegas compatible with a USB-MIDI control surface with faders & knobs for controlling the software? I think this would be a much better way of recording rather than grabbing a mouse after a take. Also, here's the kicker, I'm still using Vegas 2.0, be gentle, feeding my family comes before upgrading my software.

No, currently there is no controler for Vegas and Vegas does not support this. Most everyone in this forum agrees with you, we've been pushing for this feature since the release of Vegas 2.0. Having said that, there are controlers for transport functions and editing, but no fader control and mixing.

Thank you for the info, maybe by the time I can afford to upgrade, there'll be a version that supports this. After I thought about it for awhile, I guess having the computer keyboard closer to me in my setup & using shortcut key commands would be an alternative.

How can I control transport ? I have buit myself a midi controller that can send pretty much any messages I want, what do I need to send and what can I control ?

Thanks,

I'm not sure if it works under MMC messages. From what I understand it is supported by multimedia keyboard commands. Basically, any keyboard short-cut command can be supported.

Some examples are the Contour Shuttle pro: www.contouravs.com
and JL cooper makes some really nice ones: www. JLcooper.com and also Tascam has one. I know the contour shuttle pro has been tested with Vegas and it works, it's connected via USB. I've heard people having success with the JLcooper models also. I'm kind of wondering about the JLcooper midi connected controlers......It would seem those would send out MMC commands, so I'm not sure if Vegas will recognize that or not. It also seems to me, that there could be a possibility to control the faders with one of these also. Seeing you can use the up/down arrow keys to select tracks, and then use the right/left arrows to adjust the volume on the fader.

I gotta second the Contour ShuttlePro. I use it for everything; Vegas, Logic, Photoshop, Opera... It takes ya five minutes to set up a new profile if it's not already provided by Contour. A great buy.
