Use Levels Fx to Work in 8-bit Linear Gamma?

If I want to perform an operation in linear gamma within an 8-bit or 32-bit video project, can I use bookends of levels fx's to briefly convert to linear gamma? If so, what would be the conversation factor for gamma? Thx!

The inverse of 2.2, or 1÷2.2, or 0.45 Gamma. Many of these questions are best solved with pre-algebra tactics.

By definition, the endpoints remain fixed. Two nails and a rubber band, that's all gamma is.
