I got mad at Symantec when they dumped that really nice fax program years ago.

WinFAX? It was always buggy for me and not reliable. Never worked when someone sent me a fax.

Symantec is much better than it used to be. Some testing I saw rated it as one of, if not the lowest cpu load. I use it during editing and don't have problems. I sometimes turn off the real time monitoring, especially if I'm going to render.

I don't use anti-virus apps (or a firewall) on my A/V computer which is rarely connected to the web, except for an occasional up or download. On administrative desktop, Nortons, on the Laptop, Avast and ZoneAlarm's firewall. (both free) FWIW, Zone Alarm now has a anti-virus app. as well, which I have not tried.
According to the PC magazines, Norton 360 is consistently rated at the top. However in some cases It has been known to have an adverse affect on A/V software. Though I haven't heard of many issues lately.
