using DXi instruments?

Does anyone know how (or where I can find info) to use DXi instruments in Vegas? I have an SBLive5.1 (I know I know... but I'm poor :)) and using an external midi device as a controller. VSTs dont work good in Cubase because my card doesnt support ASIO drivers... so I am stuck with directx for now at least. I would like to be able to use my edirol soft synths in Vegas but dont know how.... any ideas on how to get this going?

Thanks!

www.FLstudio.com (only 150 for the full edition)

www.samplitude.com (about 600 bucks)

or acid by sonic foundry...... (i personally wouldnt go with that)

and as far as your SBlive not having ASIO drivers, search google for the kx project...

Vegas is for Audio & Video; DXi (DirectX Instruments) are esentially a MIDI technology. You want something like Cakewalk's Sonar. Or if on a budget, Cakewalk's Home Studio, which is a somewhat stripped down version of Sonar at about 1/7th the price. A co-worker just boought this from Amazon for about $40, and for $5 more there's a version with the actual MIDI cable/game port converter included. Can't beat that!
