Using Effects Chains Vegas Pro 22 Build 250 Windows 11 Pro

robbif2 wrote on 2/13/2026, 9:27 PM

It's been a while. Please bear with me here. I've been using  everything from at least Studio 13.

FWIW, I edit bluegrass performances a lot. Anyway, for a long time I've successfully used single effects with specific settings on individual clips giving, them preset names. And yes, I've used also the copy/paste effect attributes to other clips. Now I'm trying to figure out effect chains, and despite all the tutorials.

I'm missing something. Until now, it never occurred to me that there must me a way to gather effects and give them a group name.

So I added the name c+n-1

Now did that create a chain of two effects or, as I assumed, just for Brightness and Contrast?

Let's assume it's a chain.

Now I go to a clip with no effects...

Nothing below it but all the effects.

If I I created a chain called c+n-1 how to I add it here.

So, please fill me in!

Thanks.

@robbif2 to re-use a chain of filters the chain has to be saved as a filter package. That's something different than saving a preset for an FX as you showed in your screenshot.

Forgive me. I'm jumping ahead here because I've only found videos that clearly show the process in Vegas Pro 23 with nothing like I find in Pro 22 where I don't see the word package anywhere. Please tell me if, although the feature exists in 22, is this this just a different interface in 23...

I'm still working on showing you how I'm attempting to do it in 22.

I select fx on a clip with no effects...

I add 3 effects and see only one way to save...

Then I select another clip with no fx and look for a way to retrieve my package...

I hope this will make it clearer how it works in VP22 and earlier:

As an extra; when you save a Filterpackage you can save also keyframes for example:

Hi again 3POINT, Continued thanks! I found no online video that showed me what yours does!So I believe I'm very close now.

Still apologies for this painfully elementary exercise, but haven't had an asymptotic struggle like this in a long time! Please confirm or correct my description of the steps..

-Select a clip

-Add multiple fx to the clip and adjust the settings on each

-Click on fx again

-On the list of all effects, select "Save As..." on the right column

-Enter the name of your package, say MYPKG01

-Select another clip to add the package

-From the list of all effects, select MYPKG01

- etc.

Am I close?

Thanks!
Fred

Real close, to add/re-use a filterpackage or FXchain to another event or to an event in another project, select your created FXchain from the subfolder Filterpackage in the list of all FX and add it like you add every other single FX.

In the subfolder Filterpackage you can create also subfolders to sort out your creations. Just experiment with it to get experience, you always can delete, change, rename your FXchain creations.
