Hi Nick,

Yes, there are many of us using MBL with Vegas and it integrates seamlessly. If you have the MBL main page open, then on the bottom right of teh MBL: screen you should see the word "Tools". Click on that and this creates a selection of tool "thumbnails" to appear on the RHS of screen (saturation, contrast etc). Simply drag a thumbnail onto your event and voila, the controls for that particular tool appear, tweak as you like, then drag on another tool thumbnail.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi Duncan, thanks for the post, I've found those tools you speak of no probs but I was watching this videohttp://www.redgiant.com/videos/getting-started/item/293/ on Red Giant where Simon Walker is demonstrating Magic Bullet Looks with Final Cut 10 and there seems to be a set of controls for the overall effects filter and tha'ts what I was referring to but maybe that is a final cut pro set of overall controls and not part of the Magic Bullet plug in.
However I'm just using a trial version think it's amazing so I'll probably purchase it for my grading applications.

I attended Simon's Tutorial 2 weeks back at Prokit, here in West London. Simon has a very clear and engaging way of explaining MBL - I learnt loads, apart from have much time discussing it and Pleural Eyes.

I have MBLs, what is your actual question?

Cheers

Grazie

It could be that there is “Magic bullet editors looks” plug and “Magic bullet looks” both work in Vegas you may have the editors version so you need the latest newer version the UI is different from the latter.

I'm new to MBL and currently using a trial version, I saw in one of the tutorials they seem to be able to open up a window that has master controls over the whole plug in including extra masks etc... I was wondering if this was a final cut pro function or whether it was Magic Bullets Looks.
I've found the presets on left of screen and the tools on right of screen is there a MASTER panel that effects everything at the end stages ?

Nick MBL will work same as in both NLE because all functionality takes place within MBL but you never know with this stuff please give us a link or something so we can see the tutorial you are referring to.

Nick if you select lens in work process = highlight lens then you select tools the lens tools dialog will give you the lens filters and if you select Camera = highlight then select tools this will give you all the Camera filters and so on.

Ok got it, the mask layers in FCP are the same as Vegas pro 12 in Pan and crop window Vegas Pro 12 will allow fx on mask etc. but if you are using other versions of Vegas you will have to composite the mask on a layers level.
I am not using 12 but am still on 10 but when I looked through the release of 12 I noticed this option which is very cool.

Cool, I'm thinking of upgrading to 12 so you've just given me another good reason to.
In the meantime I'm on vegas 11 where do I fine "Layers"?

MB Looks for Vegas does not have the quick masks that you see in the tutorials. It's a limitation of the Vegas plugin architecture from what I understand. In AE and Premiere you have an extra drop down below the edit button that gives you power mask capability over the effect.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a level bug in the way Looks works in Vegas. You really see this if you try the external monitor viewing from a blackmagic card. The black level appears as if you added set-up. The RGB scopes inside of Looks also reflect the boosted black levels. In Premiere and AE these problems do not exist.

Other than that Looks has been stable for me in Vegas. Just know that you will not see accurate black levels until you exit the Looks interface and view the timeline on your secondary monitor.

Thanks Marc, info really helps.
I am loving the trial version of MBL the way it's laid out with tools and presets makes grading easier and certainly more enjoyable.
