Using MFSL Ultradisc 24-karat Gold CD-R's

Has anyone else tried using the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs Ultradisc 24-Karat Gold CD-R's with CD Architect 5.2d?

I tried using them and I was unable to get CD Architect to read the disc in my drive. I kept getting an mesage that said "no disc" or "becoming ready".

I'm using one of the new Sony all in one Vaio PC's that has a built in Blu-Ray/CDR/DVDR burner in it.

All was fine when I popped a regular computer grade Sony blank CD-R into the drive. CD Architect burned a CD-Master without any problems.

Perhaps this has something to do with the Gold reflective surface of the MFSL Ultradisc CD-R's?

Any thoughts?

My thoughts:
Not a CD Architect problem. Use regular cd's. Taiyo-Yuden seem to be the high end disc of choice for those looking for something better than garden-variety blank media.

It will be a drive firmware issue - try updating drive firmware, but it's possibly not implemented for that media, and may never be.

Just stick to TY's and avoid the MFSL discs which sound suspciously like snake-oil ;-)
