Using Vegas Pro 9 to burn DVD or VCD

Just Relax wrote on 7/20/2010, 7:10 AM
I recently purchased and used Vegas Pro 9 to edit videos with 1280 X 720 30p formats. It edited well, but when it comes to burning DVD, it shows "Scanning for Devices" and freezez up. My computer is HP Pavilion Elite 8GB Ram, 1000 Hard Drive, Vista Home Premium 64bit. What am I doing wrong and any advice please.
Thanks

Are you using 9.0e?

In 9.0c that I am using, under Tools>Burn Disc there are only CD and BD options, no DVD.

Normally, you would export DVD compliant MPEG2 video and audio files (two separate renders) and pass them to DVD Architect to make a DVD.

Peter, the timeline to DVD option was added in 9.0d

Thanks Mike.

I'll update when smart rendering of AVCHD is reinstated.

I am using 9.0e, but vegas freezes in 9.0c b/4 i updated to 9.0e. My DVD burner works fine because i used it with other programs like Windows DVD Maker, Cyber DVD Maker and Roxio Creator. I even attached an external DVD Burner to see if Vegas will recognize it, but to no avail. It just says "Scanning for devices and freezes up. I have to reboot the computer all the time

Do what a lot of folks on here do and that is use DVDA to 'prepare' the video and then use another app to do the actual dvd burning.

That's what I am doing right now and things work Ok.

It's just that I expect Vegas to burn the DVD. It recognised my burner in Vista 32bit on my other Desktop and laptop. It just freezes on Vista 64 bit
Thanks
