Using vegas to burn to cd - vcd/dvd problems with file and playing

OK, I used Vegas to take a file onto a cd that I (hopefully) could play in a dvd player. I had already rendered the file out to mpg-1, and used the burn to cd already existing file to make the dvd, but the resulting file was all messed up. I used another cd and this time rendered out of the tool to the cd. Then these problems:

A. The file glitches in to places. For lack of better words, it hicups. You can only tell on the audio, as the visual is just text so I dont notice anything visually. It does this in two places.

b. I can play this on a PC using mediamatics DVD player, but couldnt run it on the two DVD players I tried, one of which is a fairly new panasonic that actually says DVD/Video CD player. It just gave me a NO DISC reading

I would really like to use vegas to put things on a cd in order to play in a dvd player, minus the glitches. Can I not use my CD-Rw for this, and should I just drop the cash to purchase a DVD burner?? I was hoping I could just use my CD-RW.

Any insight would be great!!

There are all kinds of problems that can occur.
One tip you can try is use CD-RW media not CD-R that often helps with modern standalone players.
See my reply to you on "DVD rendering - mpg1 Vs mpg2" thread for a link.

If you want to have great results though DVD is the way to go, prices are coming down all the time. (The only choice you've got to make then is format & whatever happens you are bound to choose the wrong one but I would say if you are going to do it now make sure it does DVD-R)

Try the above tip first.

But, have you been to vcdhelp.com ? Look for the DVD compatibility list.

I think you will eventually get it to work.
