Best thing to do is type in the search term of "nest", nesting, etc. over the history of the entire VegasPro forum. Will be your educational primer.

You are correct. Tweaking the source veg alters the file with nested veg. I've been a big fan of nesting, quick easy changes across multiple files, and if nothing else, cleans up the timeline.

One point... if I had an error in the nested veg I experienced all sorts of crashes, sometimes simply opening a file with a corrupt nested veg crashed Vegas, or crashed on rendering and so forth.

My first troubleshooting step with a problematic file was to open each nested veg, checking them.
