v17 render error "A stream could not be read"

Michael-Rye wrote on 7/11/2020, 8:10 AM

Stitching together a bunch of MP4 videos from my phone that I took on the fourth of July. Got them all set up the way I want them, and they play fine from the v17 timeline. However, when I try to render the full video to a new file, it processes a few frames then stops with a popup message box that says "A stream could not be read." What needs to be done to figure out what is wrong and/or send diagnostics to support?

Have you moved your video files to the hard drive of the computer you're editing on?

Michael-Rye wrote on 7/11/2020, 8:22 AM

Yes, the movie files are all on an internal HD in the editing computer. They play fine in movie studio when I tap the space bar to watch them. They also play fine using an external video player like VLC.

Probably your GPU is not supported, try to render with a rendertemplate without GPU.

Michael-Rye wrote on 7/11/2020, 8:46 AM

For GPU, I have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER. Template that fails in v17 is "Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps (NVIDIA NVENC)." I set up the same project in movie studio v16 on the same computer, using the same named render template, and it works in v16. Tried render template without GPU in v17 named "Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps," and that works. So, this looks like a bug to me with the GPU template in v17. How do I go about reporting such a thing to the software distributors?

@Michael-Rye
Which drivers exactly are installed for your Nvidia?

Looks like it is a bit out of date. I'm surprised that it didn't update itself since current on NVIDIA web site is 451.67.

I have updated to 451.48 as you suggest. Unfortunately, I still get the error when trying to render with "Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps (NVIDIA NVENC)" template.
