V19 - FX search field bug

misohoza wrote on 10/16/2021, 2:09 PM

The search function in Vegas Pro 19 is inconsistent. Sometimes wrong fx is applied to the event. See the picture. It looks like the Pan and Zoom fx is selected but when dragging the "Eye preview" icon I get a different fx applied. The one that is in the description. This behavior is confusing... at best.

Can confirm. See that same kind of behavior with Sapphire. Drop s_effect on a clip, it actually adds s_EdgeAwareBlur

If this is a bug, I believe there's another portal to submit the bug.. I don't believe posting it on the forum will get it fixed.

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns actually bug reporting through the forum is quite common

I've seen it done -- but question its effectiveness. I've always been under the impression that although bug discussions and findings are absolutely discussed here in the Forums, that they won't be actually addressed unless submitted through the other process.

THAT said -- so far, zero of the bugs I've ever reported were corrected, even when I fully documented how to reproduce. Magix seems to ignore my finding until the next release comes out, in which case their reply is "sorry, we don't support fixes on the old version."

We know about this bug and are looking into it. I'm sorry you feel we ignore you, but we don't do so intentionally. We attempt to prioritize our work as logically as possible given our dev resources. Unfortunately, some bugs carry over between versions. That puts you in the position of having to upgrade in order to get some bug fixes.

While that's true, it's not some scheme on our part to make you buy upgrades. At some point the reality simply becomes that we have to stop developing old versions in order to make the new versions. I'm sorry that this sometimes leaves you without a fix to a bug in your version. It's an unfortunate reality, but I don't think it's any different with any other software, or hardware, for that matter. Sometimes you have to buy the new widget to get the improvement over the old widget. Trust me, I feel your pain too with products I buy.

I wish we didn't have bugs to fix and to carry from one version to the next, but we do and likely always will. Nothing personal, I promise!

Thank you, @gary-rebholz

I understand there are probably more important things to fix. Considering there are multiple ways how to load an fx. At least I know you are aware of this.😀
