V22 New Multicam Audio Sync question

Maybe premature to ask, but...

Can the new New Multicam Audio Sync feature be used as a general tool or is it restricted to Multicam projects?

For example could it be used to synchronize a pair of 3D clips prior to pairing them?

Or could it be used for edits shot with multiple cameras but not edited using the Multicam feature?

It can be used to align two clips. If you use that in a multicam project is up to you - it works also outside a multicam project.

The mechanism seems to utilize the waveforms. At has now become much faster.

I think it was not tested for s3D yet. But should work, if the waveforms of both sides are in sync from recording.

I reallly appreciate this capability.

Alas, we just tried it on two 38-minute events and it still seems really quite slow to me.

  • Using "Mixed Audio" synch: it took 2:48 .. did a pretty good job, one frame difference
  • Synch using "Music": it took 2:47

Saved the project with just those events and synched in PluralEyes. Done in 1:50 (including building working files).

It's getting better, but looking at those numbers, there's still room for optimization.
