As the title says. Impossible to render my project, tried numerous times with different settings and codecs, RAM zo 0 etc. Crashes every time.I googled the error code and got no clear result, also mailed Boris support, no answer so far.

it's BCC magic sharp at event level, also tried at track level, same issue.
I watched the exact spot during the render where the crash happens and rendered that isolated region, it didn't crash. It only crashes during the render of the entire project.

The weird thing is that the first few test renders of the project did not crash. In the meantime, I updated colorfast 2, which ckeeps putting a watermark on everything unless I delete the sfx cache every time.. I don't think it's related but who knows...

A crash in the OpenColorIO library is unusual. That usually means a problem with handling of a LUT or some strange with color grading.

New crash, same spot, different error report. Definitely BFX related it seems.

I only have the vegas LUT filter on an adjustment track, the CG panel isn't used. I'll try putting the LUT filter at track level and see it that changes anything. I can't put it at the video output bus as there are pics and events that shouldn't be affected.

@Mindmatter which OS version do you have? Do you have win11 and in particular version 24H2 ?

As BorisFX is concerned, it uses NVIDEA a lot a lot, so maybe roll back on the NVIDEA driver:

There are a lot of gaming issues with NVIDEA's recent versions like 566.14 since windows 11 24H2 recently rolled out worldwide. If so, stepping back to 561.09 seems to be a working workaround solution if affected...

Thanks bitman, I'l try that. I'm on win 10 still.

My last attempt at rendering resulted in a total crash, had to manually switch off the PC.

@Mindmatter I just used BCC Magic Sharp (not the BCC+Magic Sharp) and it is listed as OBSOLETE in Continuum Complete 2025. I placed it on a 4K 25P event on the timeline, cranked up the sharpening and it rendered without an issue.

I'm on the annual continuum subscription plan, and it doesn't show as obsolete on my system, I also have the latest update. I also doubt it's actually that particular plugin. Something went very wrong somewhere in this project, still trying to figure out what it is.. I'm urrently trying out older driver versions too. The render now crashes at 26%, now with the same "open color" error report as in my OP.

@Mindmatter, going to the same location on my hard drive, this is what I have at that location.

C:\Program Files\BorisFX\ContinuumOFX\18\lib

Notice I am using 18.

Screenshot below of BCC+ Magic Sharp and BCC Magic Sharp OBSOLETE.

Also note that when you go to download Continuum Complete, the version number is 18.0.0

Mindmatter wrote on 11/26/2024, 2:16 PM

Ok now this might explain a big part of the issue.... I'm on 17 but when I "check for updates", it says my version is up to date. I'll download 18 now.
Thanks a lot for pointing me to this!

I have a friend that had the same issue when 2025 was released. I pointed him also to the download. He downloaded and installed and all is well.

Try turning off all hardware acceleration in Vegas and Windows graphics card settings. This worked for me in Vegas 22. Before it crashed in nearly every time when rendering.

Reyfox wrote on 2/25/2025, 9:02 AM

@SummerDancePro do you have Continuum?
