V4 can't exceed 4Gig file limit?

Hello All,

Vegas 3 successfully rendered a standard avi PAL file into a 4GB file and a second file with the rest of the video render in it. After gaining confidence in V4 I have now edited the original veg file and saved it in Vegas 4 format. Now, when trying to render the same file under the same conditions, V4 aborts the render after having created the 4GB file and will not proceed further and create the extra file. I have tried this a few times with consistent behaviour.
Is this a Vegas 4.0b bug? Can I do something about it?

I have tried to copy the tracks back from V4 to V3 so that I can confirm this behaviour. I had both versions running at the same time but it wouldn't work. Can this be done? How?
Regards,
Neil Porter

Under the video tab in the settings for the render, are you using OpenDML (AVI version 2.0) compatibility? (I'm assuming you're rendering to a DV AVI) It's been a while since I rendered anything over 4GB, but I seem to recall that if your HD is formatted NTFS and you use AVI2 in the render settings then there are no limits on final render file size (well, no limits that we'll realistically encounter for a while yet).

If your HD isn't formatted in NTFS, then I can't really advise you. Good luck! :-)

I can say that VV doesn't have a problem with rendering to 4GB. I accidently rendered a file over 4 GB the other day. So I don't think VV is at issue on this one.

Just finished a 2 hr 23Gig render in VV4 (a couple of times) with no problems.

By the way, on long projects, I tend to break up my renders into smaller sections. (Render looped area to new track). I have set up a DV render with no sound template, that I use especially for this purpose. That way, if I have to fix things, I don't have to re-render the entire project.
