V4 doesn't capture my DV video, others do.

Ok, so I've been trying to grab video via Firewire from a Sony DCR-TRV12e with a 6-4 cable. Vegas records the audio and I also can see the video, but it does not get recorded...trying the same with other programs like Mainconcept EVE works fine, everything gets recorded. Conclusion: it is not necessarily a hardware issue? Or maybe I am forgetting a little stupid thing. Any ideas, anybody?

Thanks.

Two things: First, try resetting Vegas capture to its defaults. To do this, open Vegas capture. Then, press and hold either shift key. While holding this key, click Options, then Preferences. You will now have an additional tab on the Preferences dialog box called Internal. Don't mess with any of the settings except the first one, "Reset All Settings on Startup." In the first column, labeled Value, click on the word FALSE, erase it, and type TRUE. Click on OK a few times to get completely out of the Options dialog. Then, close and restart capture.

2. Turn off your DV camera, and disconnect the cable. Wait until you hear a "bonk" from Windows. Then, turn the camera back on and reconnect the cable. See if the capture works.

You may have to search around for your captured video because once you reset all the defaults, it resets the directory used to hold the captured video.

Try turning off the "Minimum Clip Length" in the capture program.

Interesting stuff, I'll try that.
