V4 Editing Workshop by D. Spotted Eagle Book Questions

Bought the book now I wonder (since I hate all those Demo Filters that just take up room on my computer and clutter the Plugins menu) how much of the stuff on the CD is usable.
Under SOFTWARE:
1. First you see: the Install Microsoft .net Framwork 1.1 Package
Now wtf is that? Is it usefull?
2. There are 6 other folders with filters, Demos etc
How much of this is actually usable? Without those crosses in the middle etc.

//Thanks, Garo

.Net Framework needs to be installed if you want to use any scripts.

Might be a good idea to read through the book before installing the demos, as various chapters in the book indicate what demos are there for what reason. You may find specific plugins to be unusable for your needs.
The only demo/software not mentioned deeply is the Winmorph, and that's because I haven't used it enough to comment in-depth on it. But since Satish was kind enough to grant me the opportunity to include his software on the disk, I included both the Plug n' pak and the Winmorph tool.
The iZotope demo needs little said about it, it's one of the finest plugs made. Same with the Pixelan SpiceFilters and SpiceMaster. .Net as Gary indicated, is required to run scripts, you can download it from Microsoft or use the installation on the disk.

Hiyah Garo,

"1. First you see: the Install Microsoft .net Framwork 1.1 Package" - Okay, V4 is the first flavour of V that uses "scripting" to add an amazing amount functionality to your copy of V4. See the
Scripting Forum for the V4 Community using this remarkable feature.

Basically the ".js" scripts provide flexibility toVegas4 NLE activity. You need to have installed the MS .NET platform to allow the Scripts to work. These scripts are being created by our colleagues daily/weekly. The one I'm a major use of is Placing Stills to previuosly created On the BEat Markers. If you haven't installed the .NET V4 wont be able to make use of them.

For a very impressive list of these Scripts - designed and devised by our V4 NLE colleagues go to the Sundance Site for a comprehensive list of Scripts for V4. BTW yopu need to Register with Sundance to gain access - I think?

Another product that requires .NET is Excalibur. It also needs Vegas 4.0c. Once downloaded and installed this s/w provides even further features to the scripting.
Go to the Excalibur site for further information. See the Demonstration online. Multi Camera work with dissolve functionality . . . Excalibur has allowed me to produced a highly complex dance sequence. I also use it to make progressive Tests and adjust these sequences. Excellent!

I can't answer your 2nd question.

Grazie

Just to clarify what Grazie wrote; Excalibur requires 4.0c or higher.
