V4 Importing AC3 audio from Vob.

Using V4, I have had no problems at all creating and editing video and audio from my DV source. However, I have hit a brick wall when it comes to importing AC3 audio directly from a .vob. I decided to get all my (already bought) Saturday Night Live dvds and use vegas to throw my favourite skits together. Although V4 imports the vob's video, the audio seems not to exist, although when played in Power DVD etc, it's there. I can see why this would be a problem in terms of people copying dvds, however, as I own the dvds I can't see why this would be a problem, especially for a ridiculously expensive so-called "professional" video/audio editor.

Are there any ways of importing AC3 into V4? If not are there any separate plug-ins to enable it? Does V5 allow AC3 importing? Or do I have to rip the audio from the vob as a wav and then have to put up with out of sync a/v?

Any help would be appreciated.

Vegas 4 + DVD-A has an AC-3 encoder, not a decoder. Vegas 5 does not list a decoder in the feature list but I don't have it so I can't say for sure.

Yes

That shouldn't be a problem.

Vegas is not a ripper.
