V4 Ripple Question

To SoFo, thanks for the improved ripple!

Question:
I have multiple clips on a track. I want to take a clip from track position 2 and move and insert it to track position 4. When I try this in ripple mode (any of the modes), the clip stays in position 2 and everything (position 2 and after) gets shoved down track.

The only way I have seen to do this is: ripple on>create space in position 4, ripple off>drag clip to new position (4), ripple on>delete leftover empty spaces in positions 2 and 4.

Is there another way that I am not thinking of?

SoFo- I have additional comments regarding ripple. If V4 Beta is going to be what we are going to get with ripple, I will just keep quiet. It is definitely an improvement. If you are still working on ripple for the release version, let me know and I will send my comments to you.

Thank you.

Hi Swarrine,

You mean events in the same track, or different tracks?

If the former: Have you tried shuffle? (Right-drag event-2 onto event-4, select shuffle)

SLower way, cut& paste.

Might be what yer lookin for.

Hi Marty-

Thanks for the tip, had not noticed shuffle before.

Having said that, have you noticed the anomaly that occurs when you shuffle a clip of greater legnth over a clip of lesser legnth?

If you can, give it a try just to be sure it is not only me.

Hi S,

Anomoly? Here it behaves the same as cutting one event and pasting it further down.

With Ripple on, you can cut (ctrl x) clip two and then (ctrl alt right arrow key) to move to the insert point between clip 3 and 4. Then (ctrl v)in front of clip 4.
