V6 bug - 'Recent' folder broken

Ben  wrote on 5/17/2005, 4:38 PM
Vegas 6 - to reproduce, simply go to the Open dialog and select a folder from the Recent drop-down menu. Nothing happens - it doesn't take you to that folder, as it should.

I saw the same behaviour in ACID 5, but didn't report it thinking it must be something with my system. But a colleague has just confirmed he can also repro these issues. Something's obviously awry.

On a related note, why do we not have a Recent dropdown (formerly MRU) on <every> dialog in Vegas. It's very useful and you find it everywhere it Sound Forge and many other non Sony apps; obviously makes quickly navigating somewhere much less painless. In Vegas it's available on Open, but not on Save As or Render. Please could you consider adding this Sony? For consistency's sake if nothing else.

Ben

Edit: BTW, I can't believe there's no official system for supporting bugs. Very frustrating. Can't we at least have an email address to send these to?

See that menu at the top of the page - the option starting with "Support"... click the option below that which says "email support". That IS the official way to submit a bug report to Sony.

That's a really good suggestion. Go to Support | Product Suggestion with that. The Render As dialog could really use some of those niceties.

Thanks for the sarcasm. Not really specifically for reporting bugs is it? Besides that's more likely to go to Customer Support - surprise surprise - than to the developers and who knows whether the bug reports will be read by the right people? Just seems odd there's no proper system for this.
I've been around here and using these products a very long time and wasn't really asking you all for navigation tips for the Sony website :)

Meanwhile, can anyone repro this bug then?

yes I have noticed it too.

I can't repro it. When I do File Open, then click on My Recent Documents, then double-click on a folder that contains my last revisions of a project, it opens up the folder and I see the files in it. From there I can open up any veg file, or avi.

From others experience it sounds like a bug but it ain't buggin MY system!

I can repro also.

Nope, that's different from the 'Recent' dropdown at the bottom of the dialog.

Definitely a bug it seems. I've mailed Support, though I'm correct in that there is no specific 'report a bug' type option, so one does worry if it's actually going to get to the right person.

The only thing I wish and maybe Sony admin or EPM can confirm is that it would be nice if we didnt have to type in our sys spec each time . Either cut and paste in the form from a file with all the info such as a file I have from belarc or a couple other programs that store all my system info.
O when we as forum members send in a bug report it could be linked to our spec info in our profile.

I just don't bother :)

With a bug like this, there's no way it can be related to your hardware. I just hope they're reading these bug reports.

Yup. Repro-ed here, and checked against Vegas5b Build 160 using these two procedures:

1/- File> Open

2/- ToolBar>Open icon

Vegas5 Yes and Yes

Vegas6 No and No

Hmmm...

Grazie
